Does changing the glass on your iPhone compromise the integrity of the phone?
That is a question I get asked a lot in this business because you will see us use all kinds of iPhones when we are testing iPhone cases and accessories. We are not shy about how much we love iPhones at Zellatek, and if you have watched any of our videos you have seen a few of the different color iPhones we use here around the office. But does changing your iPhone glass compromise the integrity of the phone?
The answer is: No.
Replacing your iPhone screen with your favorite color will NOT compromise the phones integrity to withstand drops or other issues. It may void your warranty but glass is glass and the only problem you may run into is a bad LCD screen, which you could run into at Apple also. The whole theory that you can compromise your phones integrity by changing your color is usually spread by someone who is promoting a product that is not holding up to scrutiny or an Apple or accessory company die hard fan.
We have run into this issue with LifeProof fans who say that we mischaracterize Lifeproof and use “lesser quality iPhones” in our testing. The facts are that not only do we work with these accessories every single day but we are also professional smart device repairmen/women. We know how to repair the phones and devices we destroy (It actually helps us keep costs down. Go us!!).
So if you are looking to switch up your iPhone colors, do so without the worry that our phone may not be what it once was. Just know that you will void your warranty, Apple Care warranty, and it will cost you upwards of $150. If your cool with that, then go for it!!!
Until next time.
